English Country Gates builds Gates from both new and recycled timbers by hand, we not only source new timber from sustainable sources but also manufacture ‘new’ gates from recycled timber.
Most timbers both new & old are Spotted Gum and our gates are framed up using traditional mortice & tenon joints, glued and doweled... We take great pride in creating beutiful solid timber gates that are unique and can add the perfect finishing touches to your entrances.

Here at English Country Gates, we not only source new timber from sustainable sources but also manufacture ‘new’ gates from recycled timber.

Our gates are framed up using traditional mortice & tenon joints, glued and doweled
All gates up to 3.6m wide are suitable to have both electric & solar powered openers.
For openings over 3.6m, pairs of gates can be installed.
Gates can be installed by us or by others. (hanging guides provided).
The recycled timber does have nail holes & in places perhaps old bolt holes. Nail holes are filled using 2 part filler & holes are plugged with timber. This type of gate lends itself well to some ‘distressing’, coupled with a wipe over of oak stain which gives the effect that it is much older than it looks.
Gates can be pre-finished for customers. With our special conditions in Queensland however, it is important that a client applies treatment as soon as the gate is installed.
