Product Description
Amber Velvet has vibrant mid sized flowers, that really stand out.
The colour almost glows. Its foliage is again very clean and robust but not as dense as Gold or Regal Velvet’s foliage, so they tend to let weeds invade more easily. Its bold amber flowers reach around 1 to 1.2 metres tall, and its foliage reaches 40 to 50cm tall.
Amber and Ruby Velvet’s flowers are so good, and as they are still tough plants, they can still be used in mass plantings. To do so, follow these simple rules, and you will have a longer term success.

1) Plant in 75mm of chunky hard wood chip mulch, with no fine grade particles. This will help stop weed invasion. Mulch with lots of fines helps germinate weed seeds.

2) Plant them behind really low ultra maintenance plants like Little Jess or Tanika. This way if they get a little untidy, the other plants will hide it. They can also be planted on a random basis through plants that spread slightly like the Dianella caeruleas such as Little Jess, Breeze, and King Alfred. This way these Dianellas will help stop weed invasion, and cover the ground, and the Kangaroo Paws will provide masses of larger rich coloured flowers, e.g. plant 6 Little Jess, and one Kangaroo Paw per square metre.
