Aranda is a compact, dwarf, cane less Dianella with upright to slightly arching deep green foliage and has very tight rhizome growth with a small spread. Aranda has a more or less clumping habit. It has smooth deep green semi gloss, genlty arching foliage. It flowers in spring and summer with deep blue
coloured flower buds and star shaped flowers held among to slightly above the foliage, this is followed by purple berries. Grows in full sun to 70% shade and grows well in coastal
humidity and inland climates. Full frost tolerance yet to be tested. It has shown evergreen frost hardiness to -5°c in Windsor, NSW, with only some leaf discolouration. Aranda thrives in sandy loam, clay loam, free draining soils.
It performs exceptionally in improved garden soils. It has
no problems with any well composted, processed mulch type. Ideal as a tidy border plant, with a clean neat appearance in
the landscape. Also a very compact plant for mass planting. It has tightly held rhizomes.
